The Czech Society for the Properties of Water and Steam (CZPWS) was founded on October 27, 2017 with the purpose to transform the former Czech National Committee for the Properties of Water and Steam (CZNCPWS) according to the requirements of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. From January 1, 2018, CZPWS takes up on the activities of CZNCPWS and becomes the national committee of the Czech Republic in the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS).

On behalf of the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS) the Czech National Committee for the Properties of Water and Steam (CZ NC PWS) is organizing the 17th International Conference on the Properties of Water and Steam (17th ICPWS), taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, from Sunday to Friday 2 – 7 September 2018.

Dr. Jan Hrubý has been appointed as the Vice-President of IAPWS effective from 1 January 2017. The Czech National Committee consequently elected Dr. Tomáš Němec as its new chairman.
